A Typical Ulsan Saturday

Unknowingly, Jessica got to experience a typical Saturday in Ulsan, much like our Saturday's when we lived there.  It began, like they usually did, with a wicked soju hangover complete with nausea and a splitting headache.  From there, we headed out for a delicious breakfast, at 12:30pm...

For our first, and most important meal of the day, we took Jessica to 굴하우스, the restaurant formerly known as 굴사랑

This  place used to be called Gul Sarang, meaning Oyster Love, but since we've been away the name has changed to Gul (Oyster) House.
The change in name made us a little uneasy, but once the food arrived we discovered that only the name was different and the food was just as delicious as we remembered it being.

This little girl (Boo from Monsters Inc.) was
putting on a show for us the whole time.

Good for man...and good for woman!

Breakfast

Enjoying our delicious, oyster breakfast was so exhausting that we decided to head back to the motel for a little nap time to recharge and get ready for the day!

On the way back to the motel, we summoned up our remaining energy and made a quick stop at E-Mart to pick up slices of pizza to dream about during our nap and enjoy once we woke up.  (We can't speak for Jessica, but we, sadly, have performed this very same pizza move a number of times ☹)

Stylish Beer with "added fiber for health of young generation"

Liquor Buddy!
As if the rubbing alcohol flavor of soju isn't delicious enough, it can now taste like medicinal herbs and rubbing alcohol!

Korean bar snacks!

Jessica taught us 2 games while she was here.  One, a car game, called 'My Cow,' in which you yell 'my cow' when you see a cow.  That's all.  There are no points recorded or cows counted.  Just yelling 'My Cow'... FAIL.  The other was this Colorado drinking game, which we can't remember, so that means it was successful, we guess. NOT FAIL.

The motel provided us with complimentary face masks, which of course seemed like a great pre-bedtime idea!

  1. Boiled quail eggs as bar food...made me throw up in my mouth a little. But perhaps it works? Perhaps beer and boiled eggs go well together and I just never knew?
